What I'm trying to figure out is why I can get to my User:Dzidzelalic page from my eo:Vikipediisto:Haruo page, but not from within the Cherokee Wikipedia itself (even though I'm logged in). Is it a capitalization issue or what (and if so, where is the glitch)?--Dzidzelalic 08:12, 12 July 2005 (UTC)

eo:user:Haruo

Since Etse's disappearance, this wiki has been in extreme need of a sysop. You have shown yourself to be the most suited user here for such a position, due to these factors:

  • Best command of Tsalagi of any user here (besides Etse)
  • Experience in other wikis
  • Excellent in dealing with rogue anons and vandals
  • etc.

If you accumulate more contributions here (100 will be enough, especially in comparison to Etse's 129 and my 180) I will consider nominating you for adminship at m:Requests for permissions for the Cherokee Wikipedia. --ᏫᎩᏯᎩ (Wikiacc) 15:13, 4 August 2005 (UTC)

I disagree with this nomination. It seems to me that Leland has no more than the most basic knowledge of Cherokee. It seems that he believes in pan-Native American nationalism, and that Cherokee to him is a hobby rather than a language he's really academically learning. He has only recently become involved with other Wikipedias (in the last few weeks), and I think his calling this probably well-meaning anon a "vandal" was extreme. I do not think a sysop is needed here -- what tasks are there that need a sysop? Interface translation, yes, but I really don't think he's up to that. This entire Wikipedia was created at the drop of a hat as the result of a request by somebody who admittedly spoke very little Cherokee in the first place. The articles Leland has contributed to follow the abandoned policy of word-by-word translation, rather than the more current and more sensible "fully Cherokee stub" policy which is followed at the pages on different countries, accounting for the majority of Cherokee content on this Wikipedia. --Node ue 10:14, 5 August 2005 (UTC)
Thank you both. I agree with Node ue that I don't know enough Tsalagi to be a viable admin/sysop here, and it is unlikely that I will soon acquire enough of a command to be such. So I decline the nomination in advance. I don't know what evidence there is that I believe in "pan-Native American nationalism", though; I think of myself as a nonnationalist, an Esperantist, and my Native American interest is mainly in Northwest languages, particularly Chinuk Wawa and dxwləšucid. But I do think that if the Cherokee Wikipedia is to become viable it needs an administrator, and there are a few little tasks that could be usefully done right now by someone with no knowledge of Tsalagi, such as changing "Main Page" in the column at left to read and link to "ᎤᎵᎮᎵᏍᏗ". Most of my "Tsalagi" additions have been word substitution stuff (which I agree is not the way to do it), but not all. I am happy to see the much abbreviated main page. --Dzidzelalic 17:05, 8 August 2005 (UTC)

Greetings Dzidzelalic!, Can you please help me write a stub for this article which is based on this English article. Just 2-5 lines would be sufficient enough and your help would be appreciated. (I do not know what the correct Cherokee title should be). Thanks.
