Thank You
[ᎦᏁᏟᏴᏓ ᎰᏪᎸᎦ]Really appreciate all your contributions to the Cherokee Wikipedia. You did a remarkable job. Anytime you want to talk I am here. Good luck in your studies too. --Tsistunagiska (talk) 01:38, 5 ᎦᎶᏂᎢ 2020 (UTC)
- You're very welcome Tsistunagiska! And thank you for very much for the kind note. By the way, if you're not already familiar with the app Anki (a spaced-time repetition flashcard app), you might look into it and see how it can be maximized to help learn/teach languages. I plan to use it a lot in school, and I have used it to help me pick up a decent portion of a language that my wife speaks. Best wishes to you. Biosthmors (talk) 11:08, 5 ᎦᎶᏂᎢ 2020 (UTC)
- I will definitely look into Anki. I created my own flash cards for the Syllabary and useful words. My proximity is what hinders me most at this point. I am doing everything online or by communication. The written language wouldn't be as difficult but I need to understand the linguistics fully first, especially in the since of the Western Dialect as it uses tones. That takes a lot of time for someone who has limited exposure. I will get it. I am determined to carry on the traditions. --Tsistunagiska (talk) 13:10, 5 ᎦᎶᏂᎢ 2020 (UTC)
- I admire your determination Tsistunagiska! You help inspire me to continue my studies of my wife's language while I am in school. One nice thing about flashcard decks in Anki, by the way, is that they can be shared. This guy talks about his tips for "sentence mining" using Anki to help with the acquisition of linguistic rules. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3I17n4OyNE Maybe one day Cherokee language schools (in Oklahoma or North Carolina) will make some sentence-based flashcards. I've heard it's the verbs in Cherokee that are the most difficult. But I imagine with lots of repetition of using different verbs in similar ways to form similar kinds of sentences would help someone pick up on the patterns. It has taken me years to get better with language learning. It's a process! But this week someone at school that knew my wife's language was really impressed by a sentence I spoke. I wasn't good at learning my wife's language at first, but I've gotten better over the years! Best wishes to you. Biosthmors (talk) 01:09, 9 ᎦᎶᏂᎢ 2020 (UTC)
- Verbs are absolutely the hardest part of the language learning. It's very simple to put words together in the English form of a sentence but Cherokee sentence structure is a lot like some European languages and very much similar to the Japanese language. Being able to fluently speak other languages does help me in learning but only so far. Written Cherokee is more simple than spoken Cherokee. That's where I am going to struggle. Once I can understand the spoken then the writing will be easier. I am most honored to be part of your inspiration to carry on your wife's native tongue. I try to inspire others in every way. I guess it is my nature to do so. Blessings to you, my friend, and may the Great Spirit in the sky keep you until we speak again. -Aho --Tsistunagiska (talk) 12:35, 10 ᎦᎶᏂᎢ 2020 (UTC)

Main page
[ᎦᏁᏟᏴᏓ ᎰᏪᎸᎦ]Hi! :) It's no shame in letting red links stay on the main page. They are in invitation to create those articles :) --Ooswesthoesbes (talk) 08:59, 26 ᎠᎾᎠᎬᏘ 2018 (UTC)
- Hey there. I hear you. I'll revert. Although, I imagine the format of the main page could be improved upon one day perhaps. Biosthmors (talk) 20:17, 27 ᎠᎾᎠᎬᏘ 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, I agree. I can try to make it a bit "flashier". I'd at least remove the article of the month, because it's half English and probably in incorrect Cherokee. --Ooswesthoesbes (talk) 09:30, 29 ᎠᎾᎠᎬᏘ 2018 (UTC)
I'll be on vacation from May 29th until June 11th. So don't panic if I don't respond during that period :) --Ooswesthoesbes (talk) 08:25, 24 ᎠᎾᎠᎬᏘ 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks Ooswesthoesbes, and enjoy it! Biosthmors (talk) 12:38, 24 ᎠᎾᎠᎬᏘ 2019 (UTC)
