My username is a references to the genus Buteogallus, a group of hawks including Buteogallus anthracinus, a riverine and water-loving hawk that feeds on crabs, crayfish, and frogs, among other things.

I have a PhD in Evolutionary Biology, and do research and teaching in ecology and evolutionary biology.

I've so far only passed Cherokee 1 online from the Cherokee Nation, but I'm looking forward to learning more, and hope to be able to make at least rudimentary Wikipedia articles in ᏣᎳᎩ in the future.
